Thank you for using UnseenTube (the “Extension”). Your privacy is very important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how UnseenTube handles data in the browser extension and, where relevant, on this website.
In short: UnseenTube does not collect, store, sell, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). All settings and data used by the extension stay on your device.
2. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- The UnseenTube Chrome browser extension
- The UnseenTube marketing website at unseentube.netlify.app
3. Data We Do Not Collect
UnseenTube does not:
- Collect, store, or transmit your YouTube watch history
- Collect your name, email address, or other personal identifiers
- Track your browsing activity across websites
- Use analytics or advertising trackers inside the extension
- Sell or share any user data with third parties
4. Data Stored Locally by the Extension
To function properly, UnseenTube stores a small amount of configuration data locally in your browser using the standard Chrome Storage API. This data is only stored on your device and is not sent to us.
Examples of locally stored data include:
- Your chosen “watched” percentage threshold
- Whether hiding watched videos is enabled on specific YouTube pages (e.g., Home, Subscriptions, Search)
- Your Channel Whitelist preferences
- Your Keyword Blocklist entries
- Aggregated statistics used for the Time Saved Tracker
All of this information remains within your browser. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension and/or clearing extension storage via your browser settings.
5. Browser Permissions
UnseenTube needs permission to read and modify content on YouTube pages only so it can determine which videos are watched and hide them from your feed.
The extension does not try to access data on unrelated websites and does not capture keystrokes, passwords, or any other sensitive information.
6. Single-Purpose Extension
The sole purpose of UnseenTube is to improve your YouTube browsing experience by hiding videos you have already watched and applying your preferences (Channel Whitelist, Keyword Blocklist, etc.).
The extension does not perform any unrelated background tasks, does not inject ads, and does not alter YouTube for any purpose other than providing the features described.
7. Website Usage
The marketing website for UnseenTube is a simple informational site. It does not currently require you to log in or create an account.
Basic, non-identifying technical information (such as standard server logs) may be processed by the hosting provider (e.g., IP address, browser type, and timestamp) as part of normal web server operations. This is used solely for security and reliability and is not used to personally identify you by UnseenTube.
8. Third-Party Services
UnseenTube itself does not send data to third-party analytics or advertising services. However, some third-party services may be embedded on the website:
- Chrome Web Store: When you visit the extension’s page in the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect usage and install statistics in accordance with its own Privacy Policy .
- Buy Me a Coffee widget: The website may include a “Buy Me a Coffee” button or widget to support the developer. This widget is provided by a third party and may collect limited information in accordance with their own privacy policy. Any interaction with that widget is between you and the third-party service.
We do not control how third-party services handle data. Please refer to their own privacy policies for more information.
9. Children’s Privacy
UnseenTube is not designed for or directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our services, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the extension, changes in browser policies, or applicable laws. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
Material changes will be highlighted in the policy and may also be mentioned in the extension’s release notes on the Chrome Web Store.
